Janet's Bio:

Janet Cole-Valdez is a former Motown songwriter, whose songs have appeared on recording projects, films, TV and theatre.  She had a top 10 hit in England with "Disappearing Act" sung by Jody Watley of Shalamar.  Her song “I Got Someone” reached #1 on the American Idol Underground charts as well as #1 on the Hawaiian music charts.  Other recording credits include El DeBarge, Thelma Houston, Tony Terry, Rockwell, and Rick Dees.

Janet has written songs for numerous movies, including:  Gladiator, The Last Dragon, The Boost, South Beach Academy, Guarded Secrets, Chateaux Meroux and Boston Girls. TV credits include theme songs for 2 weekly TV series’: Emmy-nominated "Made in Hollywood, Teen Edition" and Fox TV weekly series "Live Life and Win".  Other TV credits include The Young and the Restless, Fame, CBS Late Night, Chicago Story, Michael Jordan: An American Hero, and movie What About Your Friends. Janet co-wrote and produced all featured songs for TV movie Christmas at Waters Edge.

Janet’s musical "Cole and Porter" was optioned by Jersey Boys’ co-producer John Osher. Janet was subsequently commissioned by Tony-award winning producer of The Lion King, to create music for a new musical in development. She then teamed up with Tom Valdez and Marc Bosserman to create the rock musical Emerald Man, which debuted Off-Broadway in the New York Musical Festival to rave reviews, and was chosen for the ASCAP/Disney Musical Theatre Workshop.  Her latest musical “Waiting for Johnny Depp” had its World Premiere in a prestigious 500-seat theatre in Houston. The show ran to rave reviews and standing ovations.  “Waiting for Johnny Depp” has now been signed to a producer in the UK, and will soon be seen on the stages of London.
